How To File Bank Complaint: Customers face difficulties due to the tardiness of bank employees. Sometimes customers are asked to come after lunch, or sometimes lunch breaks last too long. These issues often lead to reports of clashes between employees and customers.

To promote Digital India, most banks are now emphasizing online banking, but sometimes, for one reason or another, a visit to the bank is necessary. If you visit the bank and are mistreated or your work isn’t done in a timely manner, you can file a complaint.

It’s often seen that when you go to a bank, employees aren’t at their seats, leading to long waits. Afterward, you inquire about your work with other bank employees but don’t get a proper answer. In such a situation, you can register your complaint by calling the bank’s complaint number.

What type of complaints can be filed?

Customers can file various types of complaints under the Ombudsman scheme, including:

  • ATM, debit card and credit card issues
  • Issues with account opening and operations
  • KYC-related issues and account freezes
  • Internet and mobile banking transaction failures
  • Loan recovery harassment
  • Fair practises violations
  • Pension-related services offered by the financial institution
  • Cheque clearing issues
  • Issues with government transactions
  • Wrongful selling of financial services

Some types of complaints will not be entertained by the Ombudsman, including:

  • Commercial decisions of financial institutions
  • Employer-employee disputes
  • Matters pending with the court, or already settled by the court
  • Services not under the regulation of the RBI
  • Complaints without sufficient evidence

How can customers file complaints?

Any customer who uses the services of an RBI-regulated entity can file a complaint regarding any deficiency. The RBI will continue receiving complaints through its centralised complaint system, under which customers can file grievances in the following ways:

  • Online portal: https://cms.rbi.org.in
  • Email: crpc@rbi.org.in
  • Physical submission: Centralised Receipt and Processing Centre (CRPC), RBI, Chandigarh

Complaints against bank staff

Customers often have numerous complaints about bank employees. Sometimes it’s about their behavior, sometimes it’s about excuses. Bank employees often take long breaks and sometimes don’t even work on time. To file a complaint, you should know some of the bank’s rules.

Bank employees cannot go for lunch together

The RBI stated in response to an RTI query that bank officials cannot go to lunch together. Bank rules require that employees take lunch breaks one by one; they cannot all take a single lunch break in a year.

If the employee is late, there will be an immediate complaint.

We’ve all seen many bank employees make you wait for hours in the name of lunch. Many don’t even speak properly, so you can complain about this too.

  • To do this, you can go to the bank and file your complaint with a bank official. All banks maintain a register for registering complaints.
  • If your complaint is not being registered then you can complain to the bank manager or the nodal officer.
  • Along with this, every bank has a grievance redressal forum to resolve customer complaints.

Bank employees cannot misbehave with customers.

  • No bank can discriminate against a customer based on caste, gender, age, or religion.
  • A customer cannot be forced to sell a product or invest in a scheme.
  • Bank employees cannot share a customer’s personal details with others.
  • Customers have the right to refuse to provide details to maintain their privacy.

Where should I complain if the bank staff does not do your work?

Bank customers have many complaints about bank employees. Sometimes about not being on time, sometimes about not being treated properly. Because of this, customers want to complain, but they don’t know who to complain to. You can complain about a bank employee in several ways, which we’ll explain here.

Complain to the Banking Ombudsman

The RBI launched the Banking Ombudsman Scheme in 2006 to address customer complaints. If you have a complaint against a bank employee, you can file it with the Ombudsman. The RBI’s Ombudsman Scheme is for resolving customer grievances against RBI-regulated entities quickly and efficiently.

You can complain to the Banking Ombudsman only if…

  • The bank has received the customer’s complaint and has not responded to the customer within a month.
  • The bank has rejected the customer’s complaint.
  • The customer is not satisfied with the response provided by the bank.

Customers have to follow certain conditions while filing a complaint.

Customers cannot file a complaint directly with the Banking Ombudsman. Before doing so, the customer must provide written information about the complaint to the bank. A complaint can only be filed with the Ombudsman within one year of the initiation of the complaint. You cannot file a complaint directly with the bank if the complaint is filed after two, three, or five years.
