eLabharthi Bihar : Social Security Pension Payment System

eLabharthi Bihar is a digital platform of the Bihar government that delivers social security pension benefits directly to beneficiaries. This portal aims to bring transparency to pension payments. This e-beneficiary portal provides benefits of various social security schemes including old age pension, widow pension and disability pension.

An amount of ₹500-₹1,000 per month is transferred directly to the beneficiary’s bank account through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) through the e-beneficiary system. It covers over 87 lakh (8.7 million) pensioners. The portal also allows real-time tracking of payment status, verification of beneficiary lists, and complaint registration.

Widow Pension

Indira Gandhi Widow Pension

• Under this scheme, financial assistance is provided by the Central Government.
• The widow must be between 40 and 59 years of age.
• The applicant’s family must be below the poverty line (BPL), as determined by the Government of India.

Lakshmi Bai Social Security Pension

• The Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme only covers widows aged 40-59 years.
• This Bihar government scheme is applicable to all widows over the age of 18.
• The annual family income must be less than ₹60,000

Disability Pension

Indira Gandhi Disability Pension

• The scheme was launched in 2009-10 under the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP).
• The scheme is operated through funds received from the Government of India.
• If a person is already availing the social security pension of the state government, he will not be eligible for this scheme.

Bihar State Disability Pension

• This scheme is for those disabled persons who are not covered under the Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme.

Old Age Pension

Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension

• The scheme was launched in 1995 under the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP).
• In 2007, the scheme was renamed as “Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme”.
• Senior citizens aged 60 years or above can avail benefits under this scheme.

Mukhyamantri Vridhjan Pension Scheme

• This scheme was launched by the Bihar government in 2019.
• All needy people above the age of 60 years are included in this scheme.
